Experiments in fiery jockeys.

I'll be honest, I'm not entirely sure what possessed us to try this. Or what our goal really was here. I suppose we were aiming for Route 26, but we were fairly realistic in our expectations. Really, I think we just wanted to set something on fire.

Step one: Find launching pad. (Found: Chris's porch.)
Step two: Find launching mechanism. (Found: Chris's leaf blower.)
Step three: Find accelerant. (Found: Chris's spare gasoline.)
Step four: Find flammable projectile. (Found: Chris's boxers.)

Attempt A: Wad up ball of torn boxers, soak in gasoline. Pack into barrel of leaf blower. Ignite remnants of gasoline at end of barrel. Start blower. (The idling blower at this point produced a very cool "flamethrower" effect.) Rev blower.
Results: Projectile A landed about 6" from the porch in a fluttering, flaming failure.
--------
Attempt B: Form cylinder of cardboard to fit snugly in barrel. Duct-tape far end of cylinder. Duct-tape "wick" of boxers to far end. Insert near end into barrel so capped cylinder captures airflow. Pack into barrel. Soak and ignite wick. Start and immediately rev blower.
Results: Projectile B landed about 7" from the porch, alongside Projectile A, which was still burning. We gained some height and there was a bit of arc.
--------
Attempt C: Wad paper into a ball. Duct-tape ball in 3 strips, criss-crossed. Duct-tape boxer "wick" to ball. Pack ball into barrel. (Initial tests indicated that the weight of the ball would be ideal - the indoor test cleared Chris's 12'-long room.) Soak and ignite wick. Start and immediately rev blower.
Results: Projectile C caught wind, which we didn't anticipate, went about 7', and landed in a tree directly opposite the launching pad.

At this point we called it quits.

hey, i got 3 empty keystone cans here now. 3 of 'em. i'll give you 3 guesses at what fits perfectly down the leafblowers "projectile tube", sliding easily yet cutting off the airflow almost perfectly. and your 3 guesses better involve, keystone cans 1, 2, and 3.

add about 15 more to that.

31 total now. i can't believe we did not launch a few in our state of inebriation last night.
